Freedom of Information Act 2000
Freedom of information is all about the right of access.
The Act gives the right to access information held by public authorities
including local authorities and schools.
The General Right of Access to information came into force for all
Public Authorities on 1st January 2005. The act gives everyone a general
right of access to ‘recorded’ information held by public authorities. It
places a duty on public authorities to adapt and maintain publication
schemes which must be approved by the Information Commissioner.
What is a publication scheme?
It is a guide to the types of information that the Authority/school
routinely publishes. It states the format in which the information is
available and how much it will cost if there are any charges.
If you would like further information about the Freedom of Information
Publication Scheme at Belle Vue please contact the school.
What is copyright?
Copyright is part of the intellectual property rights (IPR), which also
include trademarks, patents and design rights, and it protects an
original work from being copied without the prior permission of its
creator. Unlike other IPRs, which must be registered or declared by the
creator, copyright exists once a work has been created in a tangible
format.
Copyright does not protect ideas or facts; it only protects the way in
which they are recorded, whether this is in writing, on a website, or in
any other medium.
All material on this site is copyright Belle Vue Primary School , unless
otherwise stated. No content on this web site may be used on other web
sites or in other media without the written permission of BVWebmaster.
If you require further information about copyright issues please contact
Mrs Cadman at the school.
